What to do when you feel like you’ve hit a plateau

Do you feel like you’ve hit a workout plateau? Our bodies are smart! Overtime the body gets used to your fitness routine and you may not see the same results you did when you started your practice. The good news is we can overcome a workout plateau by making a few changes. Here’s how:

  1. Adjust Your Goals - Talk with your instructor about defining new long and short term goals.

  2. Try Someone New- Work with more than one instructor. Each instructor at Darien Pilates brings their own experience of Pilates into their sessions- So they will cue exercises in their own way and use different exercises / equipment.

  3. Change Your Frequency- Add another session or Pilates mat class to your weekly schedule. Joseph Pilates himself recommended that the best results would be seen when practicing Pilates a few times per week*
